Divya Bhalgat’s Bhagwati Diksha honour ceremony held

Chairman of Editorial Board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vijay Darda, on Tuesday said with increasing human intervention causing serious environmental damage and rising violence becoming a global concern, the timeless principles of Lord Mahavira — Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), and inner awakening — can serve as a guiding light.

During his address at the Shri Bhagwati Diksha honour ceremony for Vairagyavati Divya Dilip Bhalgat of Kalaburagi (Karnataka) held at Kesariya Bhavan, Lakadganj, Dr Darda, who is the national president of Sakal Jain Samaj, in his heartfelt appeal stressed on the potential of the values, inherent in Jainism, for the benefit of the world. “These scientific and eternal values hold the potential not only to uplift the nation but also to benefit the entire world. Hence, there is a pressing need to disseminate these foundational Jain tenets beyond the Jain community, reaching people of all faiths,” he observed.

Lauding Divya Bhalgat for her spiritual commitment, Dr Darda said, “She has embarked on the path to Moksha (liberation), awakened by values such as penance, renunciation, devotion, compassion, affection, mercy, and forgiveness. These values form the very foundation of Jain religion. Divya not only understands these principles but has embraced them. I am confident that after taking Diksha, she will take the initiative to spread this spiritual wisdom to others.”

Dr Darda recalled how witnessing the work of Sadhvi Preeti Sudhaji in 1993 sparked a deep spiritual awakening in him, which ultimately led to the formation of the Sakal Jain Samaj. “Women must be respected. Through Jain religion, one learns the true art of living. Merely donating wealth is not religious service — carrying the essence of dharma to the new generation is equally important,” he emphasised.

Former MLA Kirti Gandhi, who delivered the introductory remarks, praised Divya Bhalgat for choosing the difficult yet spiritually uplifting Agneepath (path of renunciation). He mentioned that Mahatma Gandhi once stayed at their ancestral home in Kalaburagi, making Divya’s renunciation a source of great inspiration not only for the Bhalgat and Gandhi families but also for the entire Jain community. He proposed the creation of a charitable trust in Yavatmal to aid underprivileged members of the society.

The event commenced with a welcome song by Shrenika Gandhi, followed by an Anumodana Geet (song of spiritual appreciation) by Diksha Nahar and Samata Kotecha. Reflections were shared by Karuna Tated, Virendra Mutha, Hemant Gandhi (Ralegaon), and Tilakraj Gugalia. The Maitrimandal Sakhi Group chanted the Navkar Mantra. Dinesh Bora presented a motivational song, while Kalpana Gandhi shared her sentiments. The program was skillfully hosted by Varsha Tated, and the Sanmanpatra (felicitation scroll) was read by Sandeep Tated.

Distinguished attendees included Kishor Darda, CA Prakash Chopda, Dr Lalit Nimodiya, Adv. Mahendra Oswal, Ashok Jain, Adv. Ravishekhar Badnore, Dr Ramesh Khivansara, Bhavarlal Bora, Ravindra Bora, Dr Shekhar Band, Vijay Kotecha, Umesh Baid, Gautam Pokarna, Manish Bafna, Dr Hemant Gandhi, Vijay Bundela, Subhash Gundecha, Praveen Kataria, Manoj Dhoka, Sapan Chhoriya, Kishore Bora, Mohan Gandhi, Rajendra Gandhi, Abhay Gandhi, Raju Jain, Santosh Gadia, Tilak Guglia, Deepak Bora, Ashish Desai, Sandeep Kochar, Anand Chaudhary, Naman Gandhi, Samarpan Gandhi, Sharada Gandhi, Chanda Kotecha, Pushpa Chopda, Asha Doshi, Sunita Darda, Madhu Gelda, Ekta Surana, and others.

‘Navkar Mantra – A universal prayer, not just for Jains’

Dr Vijay Darda stressed that the Navkar Mantra is not limited to Jains; it is a universal expression of faith, devotion, and life philosophy. The Sakal Jain Samaj was formed to unite the Jain community, believing that collective strength can be built through education and awareness. He noted that for global peace, a Navkar Mantra chanting event was held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where participants from 122 countries took part.

Divya to take

‘diksha’ on June 5

Divya Bhalgat will take Shri Bhagwati Diksha on June 5, in Jodhpur, under the guidance and spiritual initiation of Acharya Hirachandra Muniji Maharaj. When asked about the origin of her vairagya (spiritual detachment), she shared, “I came into the satsang (spiritual company) of Gurudev Maharaj, who bestowed upon me a mantra and told me that I would one day embrace Sayami Diksha (vow of renunciation and ascetic life). At that time, I replied that such a life did not seem possible for me in this lifetime. However, he was certain and said, ‘You will surely walk the path of renunciation.” “Now, that divine moment is drawing near,” she added. Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Divya Bhalgat thanked the Sakal Jain Samaj of Yavatmal for organising the honour ceremony and humbly requested for everyone’s blessings as she embarked on her journey toward moksha (liberation).
