Two-day national convention of Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana gets underway
“When a person achieves something big, the government or society often creates a system for him. Such persons are expected to feel a sense of responsibility towards society. Without this sense, both the individuals and the society can lose their way. Hence, preserving values is essential. While artificial intelligence is the need of the hour, human intelligence is equally necessary. Therefore, children must be taught to uphold constitutional values from a young age. Constitutional values are our true strength,” said the deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the two-day 18th national convention of the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS).
The event was attended by veteran politician and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar, Union minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol, chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and president of Sakal Jain Samaj Dr Vijay Darda, BJS founder president Shantilal Muttha, Bollywood star Aamir Khan, Satyajit Bhatkal, higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil, MLAs Madhuri Misal, Bhimrao Tapkir, Hemant Rasane, Sunil Kamble, Yogesh Tilekar, Parinay Fuke, Prashant Bamb, Prakash Dhariwal, Ganpatraj Chowdhary, Vitthal Maniyar, Vijay Bhandari, Rajendra Lunker, Walchand Sancheti, Rajesh Mehta, Vallabh Bhansali, Rajesh Jain, Dr Chainraj Jain and others.
Jain movement boosts social confidence
Currently, there is a need to focus on water, forests and land, which can solve most of the country’s problems. The Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana must work in this area. The Jain community has taken the initiative to address national issues. Shantilal Muttha and the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana have done significant work in the field of education and for the social causes.

The work done by the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, Pani Foundation and Naam Foundation has raised awareness about water conservation across the state. This movement has instilled confidence that we can bring about a change in the current system. The government will continue to support such movements
-Devendra Fadnavis,
Deputy chief minister
We are celebrating the works done by the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana over the last 40 years. Looking at the social and economic condition of the Jain community, founder president of BJS Shantilal Muttha, in the initial days, organised mass marriage ceremonies. This saved the expenditure and the work once considered to be below dignity got a name for itself. Lokmat and Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana were the first to extend a helping hand during the earthquake in Latur. The lessons of disaster management were given by Sharad Pawar. In this sense, Pawar is the pioneer of disaster management.

Value enhancement in education
“Thirty years ago, I wrote an article predicting that water would be sold in the future. Today, we see this becoming a reality. Therefore, water conservation is essential. I have also initiated a campaign for this, which needs to be carried forward. It is necessary to deepen and recharge village lakes. The Sanghatana has undertaken 30,000 such projects across 10 districts in the country. Besides, the work done by the organisation in the field of education is remarkable. It is important to carry forward the legacy of its thoughts by enhancing values in education. Sustainable development projects must also be pursued in the future,” stressed Dr Vijay Darda during the event. Many other dignitaries also shared their views during
the convention.
Everyone should contribute to society and the nation. The work related to water conservation in villages is crucial. The efforts we are currently making are just the beginning. I have learned and gained much from the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana. The BJS and the Pani Foundation are working to make Maharashtra drought-free, and the State government will contribute to this effort.
-Aamir Khan, Actor
The Jain community has significantly contributed to the country’s economic progress. Their collective approach and consistent efforts have achieved remarkable results, exemplified by the Jain community. During the pandemic, the BJS’ work to support Pune residents was exceptional.
