Former MP discusses issues regarding State with Radhakrishnan
The chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha, Dr Vijay Darda, called on Maharashtra governor C P Radhakrishnan and discussed several issues concerning the State with him at Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
During his half-an-our meeting, he urged the governor to take urgent steps to clear developmental backlogs of all backward regions of Maharashtra including Vidarbha, Marathwada, Khandesh and Konkan.
Vidarbha’s increasing road backlogs, development of Adivasi areas and problems faced by schools in Maharashtra were some of the other issues Dr Darda raised during his discussion with the governor
Slums are coming up in major cities of the State and unless a proper rehabilitation programme is initiated, the problem of slum-dwellers and the issue of new slums coming up will not be solved, Dr Darda told the governor.
The recent unfortunate happenings of crime against women and also some disturbing incidents taking place in some schools in the State also came up for discussion during the meeting. The governor gave a patient hearing to Dr Darda and assured him that he would study the issues and come up with remedial measures.
At the outset, the chairman of Lokmat Media Group presented the commemorative coin of Rs 100 denomination, issued by the Government of India, to mark the birth centenary of veteran freedom fighter and founder of Lokmat Media Group Jawaharlal Darda alias ‘Babuji’ to the governor. He also invited the governor to visit the Lokmat office.
