Doctors’ melodious ‘medicine’ delights audience, ‘Voice of Doctors – Zindagi Se Zindagi Tak’ organised by Lokmat

Music is God’s gift. Music has the power to heal a patient from illness. A doctor who gives new life to patients through treatment is God’s form on Earth. The renowned doctors of the city made the Sunday night memorable with their songs.

As a part of Sur Jyotsna National Music Awards 2024, the Lokmat Media Group organised a special musical programme ‘Voice Of Doctors – Zindagi Se Zindagi Tak’ at Vasantrao Naik Memorial Hall, Vanamati, VIP Road, Gorepeth on Sunday.

The programme was inaugurated with the garlanding of photograph of president of Lokmat Sakhi Manch Jyotsna Darda and lighting of traditional lamp. Prominently present on the occasion were Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Ramdas Athawale, chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vijay Darda, MMRDA metropolitan commissioner Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, noted neurologist Padma Shri Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, chief commissioner of Income Tax department Aparna Agrawal, renowned jewellery designer (Intrea Jewels) Purva Darda Kothari, Sunit Kothari, noted cardiologist Dr Anand Sancheti and director of Lokmat Media Group Ashok Jain.

Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, who was awarded Padma Shri by the Central government, was felicitated along with his wife Namrata Meshram during the programme. On this occasion, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee was feted too.

Practising art in busy routine is doctor’s love for humanity: Dr Vijay Darda

Doctors who give life to patients are like Gods. The god is in heaven while the doctor is on Earth. That is why society has immense respect towards doctors. Even in such a busy routine, doctors who practise art also have love for humanity, said the chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vijay Darda. Speaking about Padma Shri recipient Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram who was honoured during the programme, Dr Darda said, “Dr Meshram has a charming and smiling personality, which cures half of patient’s disease first. Becoming the president of World Association of Neurologists is not an easy task and this honour is not from Mumbai or Delhi but Dr Meshram from Nagpur. This is our pride.” He said Dr Sanjay Mukherjee has also made Nagpur proud.

Union minister Ramdas Athawale started his speech in his unique style and said, “Vijay Babu of Lokmat Hai Main, Isliye Unka Bahut Hi Accha Tarah Se Chalta Hai Brain”. On this occasion, he said he had an affectionate relationship with the founder of ‘Lokmat’ Babuji and it was because of ‘Lokmat’ that he became a leader. He appreciated the work of noted neurologist Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram through poetry.

Music is must in stressful work: Dr Sanjay Mukherjee

Dr Sanjay Mukherjee said ‘Voice of Doctors – Zindagi Se Zindagi Tak’ organised by ‘Lokmat’ is a unique series that highlights the importance of music during stressful work. As secretary of the medical education department, emphasis will be laid on creating a ‘music room’ in every hospital. He said this will relieve the pain during the treatment of patients through music. Doctors of Nagpur are contributing in the field of music as well as in the medical field, which is commendable. Even though Nagpur is a big city, there is a sense of family and belonging that cannot be found anywhere else. This is the feeling of connecting people by bringing forward the theme of ‘Lokmat’.

Survey of brain of two lakh patients: Dr Meshram

Brain disease is the second leading cause of death in the world. Brain related diseases like stroke, Parkinson’s, dementia are increasing among the youth between 18 and 20 years of age. Neurologist Dr Chandreshkhar Meshram said one lakh rural and as many urban citizens will be surveyed to understand the condition of brain diseases. On receiving Padma Shri, he said it is the love and contribution of the people of Nagpur. He said ‘Lokmat’ has played a major role in making his work reach the masses.
