Rudraksha sapling planted in pious soil brought from Bhagat Singh’s birthplace

A unique tree plantation programme was held at ‘Prerna Sthal’, a memorial of  veteran freedom fighter and founder of Lokmat Media Group Jawaharlal Darda alias Babuji, here on Saturday.

A rudraksha sapling was planted at Darda Udyan behind the bronze statue of Babuji. The pious soil, brought from freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s birthplace at Khatkar Kalan in Punjab, was mixed with Darda Udyan soil while planting the sapling.

Babuji, in his youth, was highly inspired by Shaheed Bhagat Singh and he had written “Jiyo Toh Sher Ki Tarah, Nahi Toh Maut Ki God Mein So Jaao” below the statue of Bhagat Singh.

Inspired by this belief, chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former Rajya Sabha member Dr Vijay Darda visited Bhagat Singh’s birthplace at Khatkar Kalan in Punjab on Ropar-Fagwara National Highway and brought the pious soil from that village to Yavatmal.

The soil from Bhagat Singh’s native village was mixed with the soil at Darda Udyan  where the rudraksha sapling was planted which is considered to be of scientific as well as religious importance.

On the occasion, slogans were also raised in praise of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Those present on the occasion included Dr Darda, managing director of Lokmat  Media Group Devendra Darda, former mayor of Jalgaon Rameshdada Jain, former MLA Kirti Gandhi, former ZP vice president Balasaheb Mangulkar, secretary of Jawaharlal Darda Education Society Kishore Darda along with a large number of well-known personalities of the city.
