Prominent leaders in Nagpur for wedding of Avinash Pandey’s son

Mallikarjun Kharge, Hemant Soren, Digvijaya Singh, others bless newly-wed couple

The All India Congress Committee general secretary and party in-charge of Jharkhand Avinash Pandey’s son Gaurang’s wedding took place in the city on Thursday. Congress president and MP Mallikarjun Kharge, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh and Congress leaders from across the country attended the marriage ceremony and blessed the newly-wed couple.

Given his extremely busy schedule in the wake of Assembly polls in Rajasthan and Telangana, Kharge took some time out and reached Nagpur for the wedding ceremony from Hyderabad by a special flight.

After attending the wedding, Kharge met Congress leaders and left for Bengaluru.

Former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh attended the wedding accompanied by his wife Amrita Singh. He arrived in Nagpur by a train from Bhopal and spent time with the Pandey family.

Soren reached Nagpur by a special plane too.

The All India Congress Committee general secretary Mukul Wasnik, his wife Raveena Wasnik, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole, former chief minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan, leader of Opposition in State Legislative Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, Jharkhand rural development minister Aalamgir Alam, chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vijay Darda, All India Congress Committee secretary Ramkishan Ojha, former MP Subodhkant Sahay, MP Vivek Tankha and others attended the marriage ceremony too.

Earlier in the day, prominent leaders and office-bearers of Congress welcomed Kharge at the airport on his arrival. Congress workers gathered outside the airport also accorded a warm welcome to Kharge.

Ashok Chavan, Vijay Wadettiwar, former minister Balasaheb Thorat, former Union minister Vilas Muttemwar, Dr Vijay Darda, MLA Sunil Kedar, former MLA and city Congress president Vikas Thakre, MLA Raju Parve, district Congress president and former minister Rajendra Mulak, former minister Anees Ahmed, Ramkishan Ojha, Anantrao Gharad, Atul Kotecha, Umakant Agnihotri, Vishal Muttemwar, Zilla Parishad president Mukta Kokde, vice president Kunda Raut, chairperson Avantika Lekurwale, Rashmi Barve, Praful Gudadhe, Mujeeb Pathan, Girish Pandav, Prashand Dhawad and others welcomed Kharge.
