Says Dr Vijay Darda on centenary celebrations of Ghewarchandji Zamad

“Ghewarchandji Zamad has led a distinct life within his life. This life has been one of sacrifice, penance and dedication. Babuji has lived a life free from casteism, racial discrimination and hatred. There is a deep connection between discipline and his life and mission. After doing farming in Khairi, he came to Nagpur for the future of his children and earned a name in business also,” this was stated by national president of Sakal Jain Samaj and Chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vijay Darda here. He was speaking as the chief guest at the centenary celebration programme of Ghewarchandji Zamad organised by the Zamad family at Naivedyam Eastoria in Surya Nagar on Sunday.

Dr Vijay Darda on this occasion further said, “Babuji empowered the society through social work. By truly understanding religion, he strengthened his position in the society through good conduct, penance, sacrifice and forgiveness.” He also honoured Ghewarchandji Zamad during his centenary programme.

Dr Darda further said, “Babuji is honoured today not only because he has completed 100 years of life but also because of his work to connect hearts by bringing everyone together. He helped the needy without discrimination.”

“This is the reason why today we feel proud to have received his blessings,” Dr Darda said. He added, “Babuji hails from Khairi. I have a close relationship with Khairi. My mother’s family is from this place.” While praising Ghewarchandji Zamad, Dr Darda said, “Babuji honoured whosoever came in his contact. He believes in the principle of ‘live and let live’ of Jainism. Ghewarchandji maintained this conduct throughout his life.” Dr Darda added that Ghewarchandji believed in forgiveness, that is why he is like a sage. He is a beacon for the Jain community.

Dr Darda said, “Ghewarchandji is a great ascetic and performed many penances like ‘Maskhaman’, and ‘Athai’. He worked to strengthen the West Nagpur Jain community using his house as a venue. “Age keeps increasing but Babuji has understood the truth and secrets of life. As president of Sakal Jain Samaj and also on behalf of Lokmat family, I salute you.”

Former MP Ajay Sancheti and Sunil Raisoni were present as special guests on this occasion.

Chairman of Wardhaman Sthanakvasi Jain Shravak Sangh Dilip Ranka, while inviting Dr Darda to the stage, informed the gathering that despite receiving VVIP invitation to watch ICC World Cup final match in Ahmedabad, Dr. Darda chose to attend the centenary programme of Ghewarchandji.

Former MP Ajay Sancheti said that today Ghewarchandji Zamad is being honoured not only because he has lived hundred years, but also for his work. It is not important who lived how much, but how much good work one did in life. I hope that the Zamad family will also carry forward the legacy of his works in the same way, he said.
