Mini ICU at railway station

Initiative by New Era Hospital; passengers to get 24×7 emergency service

Central Railway with the help of New Era Hospital and Research Institute started a 24×7 mini ICU and a pharmacy at Nagpur Railway Station on Thursday. The service was inaugurated by divisional railway manager Richa Khare, chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda, police commissioner Amitesh Kumar and municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B. New Era director Dr Anand Sancheti, Dr Nilesh Agrawal, Dr Nidhish Mishra and Ujjwal Pagaria were also present. The dignitaries appreciated the first such medical service in a railway station in central India.

Nagpur is known as medical hub of Central India. Hundreds of patients come here daily not only from Vidarbha but also from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for treatment. Providing immediate medical care during the time of ‘Golden Hour’ saves the life of patient. Mini ICU and drugstore at the station will aim to provide that care to those who need it in an emergency. New Era Hospital has taken full responsibility for this and has made this facility available on Platform 1. Here the passengers can receive treatment along with outpatients. Medical services will be provided to traveling patients for a nominal fee of only Rs100 only.

Additional DRMs Jai Singh and P S Khairkar, chief medical superintendent Dr Champak Biswas, senior divisional commercial manager Krishnanath Patil, Rajendra Sancheti, Dr Waghesh Kataria, Atul Kotecha, Subhash Kotecha, Dilip Raka, Sanjay Kothari, Vishal Golchha, Manish Chhallani, Sanjay Pugalia, Shreyansh Pagaria and Pradip Kothari were present.

‘Doctor on Call’ facility

If a passenger arriving at Nagpur railway station needs urgent medical care he can call the helpline numbers ‘88956988711’ or ‘7888036408’. A doctor with a stretcher will be available on the platform. In addition, there will be a facility to provide free first aid to railway passengers in case of emergency.

24×7 ambulance

Ambulances will be available round the clock from New Era Hospital at the railway station. The critically ill patients will be rushed to a nearby hospital. The quality of service and facilities will be ensured by the Chief Medical Superintendent, Divisional Railway Hospital, Nagpur, and his team.

 

Emergency medical service will save lives, states Darda

Vijay Darda while wishing the best to the facility said that thousands of passengers travel through the main railway station. Due to availability of emergency medical service at the station, many lives would be saved. He congratulated the ministry of railway, DRM, and New Era Hospital for taking this initiative. He also congratulated DRM Khare, CP Kumar and municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B.
