Midnight bike rally taken out to mark birth centenary of Late Jawaharlal Darda

Hundreds of women participated in the midnight bike rally on Sunday to showcase their spirit of independence. The rally was organised on the occasion of birth centenary of veteran freedom fighter and founder editor of Lokmat Media Jawaharlal Darda alias Babuji, to honour the free woman of modern era.

This rally was jointly organised Lokmat Sakhi Manch, Bhojwani Foods Limited and Nirmik Bahuuddeshiya Gramin Vikas Sanstha in association with Raisoni Group of Institutions, Mahaveer Mewawala, Saoji Masale and Rani Laxmibai Durga Utsav Mandal. The objective of the rally was to destroy the fear of night from women’s minds, boost their confidence and to make them ready to face any challenge in their life.

The rally began from Lokmat Square at 11 pm. State textile commissioner Sheetal Teli-Ugale, chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda, director of Nirmik Bahuuddeshiya Gramin Vikas Sanstha Jaya Ambhore, managing director of Saoji Masale Prashant Ahirkar and Royal Enfield dealer Harsha Shah flagged off the rally.

The rally concluded at the ground in Lakshmi Nagar. After starting form Lokmat Square, the rally went through Jhasi Rani Square, Shankar Nagar Square, Laxmibhuvan Square, Law-College Square, Bole Petrol Pump Square, Variety Square, Cotton Market Square, Gandhisagar Lake, Tilak Putla Square, Chitnis Park Square, Gandhi Gate, Ashok Square, Baidyanath Square. , Congress Nagar, Rahate Colony Square, Deekshabhoomi Square and reached the ground in Laxmi Nagar, where it concluded.

A confidence boosting rally
“This midnight bike rally is a confidence booster for women. This is feminine power,” said director of Nirmik Bahuuddeshiya Gramin Vikas Sanstha Jaya Ambhore on the occasion.

‘Woman should be strong’
State textile commissioner Sheetal Teli-Ugale on this occasion said that it was shameful that even today it is not considered good for women to go out at night. “This midnight bike rally shatters that thought. The women who participated in the rally have proved their fortitude,” she said. She appealed to the women to show this strength at every step of their life.
