Lokmat expresses gratitude towards agents, correspondents in its birthplace

AVeteran Freedom fighter Jawaharlal Darda alias Babuji sowed the seed of Lokmat in Yavatmal and it has blossomed into a big tree today. Lokmat has proved to be the most credible source of news for the readers across Maharashtra. Agents and correspondents of the Lokmat family have contributed a lot to this journey. That is why the correspondents, who write news for the readers, and the agents who deliver Lokmat door to door, were felicitated at a function organised to express gratitude in Yavatmal on Saturday.

This gratitude ceremony was held in the presence of the chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda at Darda Matoshree Auditorium in Yavatmal city to mark the Golden Jubilee of Lokmat’s Nagpur edition. Prominent among those felicitated with a shawl, shrifal and a memento were Manikrao Bhoyar, former Yavatmal district correspondent of Lokmat and senior member of the Lokmat family, Subhash Paropte, Lokmat agent from Dabha Pahur (Babhulgaon tehsil), who worked as a correspondent, Pramod Choudhary (Sawar in Babhulgaon), who worked as a distributor, Nakul Jaiswal (Borirab in Darwha tehsil), Mohammad Salim Farooqui (Wani), Kirti Gandhi (Ralegaon), Bhagchand Darda (Pahur in Babhulgaon), Murlidhar Chakkarwar (Fulsawangi in Mahagaon tehsil) and Prakash Kothari (Ner). Besides, the then correspondent of Lokmat, Prof Shankarrao Chunarkar (Ghatanji), Principal Dr Uttam Rudrawar (Pusad), Dr Ghanshyam Sabu (Darwha), Ramesh Tated (Babhulgaon), Vinayak Padmawar (Jawla in Arni tehsil) and Kishor Karnewar (Mohda in Pandharkawada tehsil) were also felicitated. On this occasion, Subhash Paropte nostalgically recalled the days when he used to carry bundles of Lokmat newspaper on his bicycle and delivering them from door to door. He also described how he used to send news by post. He thanked Vijay Darda for taking Lokmat to the hearts of the people.

Former MLA Kirti Gandhi said Lokmat is at the top today on the strength of Babuji’s inspiration and Vijaybabu’s hard work.

The Nagar Parishad chief officer and administrator Madhuri Madavi, executive editor of Lokmat, Nagpur edition, Shrimant Mane, editor of Lokmat Samachar Vikas Mishra, senior general manager (circulation) Santosh Chipda, editorial head of Amravati district Gajanan Chopde, Amravati general manager Sushant Dandge, Lokmat Yavatmal district office head Kishor Darda were present. On this occasion, 10 women from the district were also felicitated for doing remarkable work on the birth anniversary of Jyotsna Darda, the founder president of Lokmat Sakhi Manch. Vishal Sontakke and Santosh Kundkar conducted the proceedings while Kishor Darda proposed a vote of thanks.
