Maharashtra’s progress crucial for modern India: Vijay Darda

Mumbai: When roads are linked to one another and their wider network is created, the avenues of development open on their own. Strong infrastructure is crucial for development. Maharashtra alone bears the burden of 14% of the country’s GDP. That is why Maharashtra is called the economic powerhouse. Therefore, the progress of Maharashtra is crucial to the development of modern India, remarked the chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda.

In the introductory speech at the Lokmat Infra Conclave 2021, Darda said Lokmat has not confined itself to just dishing out news and commentary. It is essential to do what is necessary for development and appreciate those who do a good job. That is why Lokmat organises events such as this conclave from time to time, he said, adding, Maharashtra has always played a pivotal role in infrastructure development. Several crucial projects like Samruddhi Expressway, Trans Harbour, Metro, Smart City, CIDCO’s Naina projects are underway. Quality and punctuality need to be maintained while undertaking any project.

If the project is not completed on time, the cost escalates and thus development opportunities in the sector concerned are denied. Therefore, it is paramount to ensure that the financial viability of large projects is maintained till the successful completion of the project, Darda noted.

Lack of proper town planning creates road, water and health problems. Slums and environmental issues stare us in the face. In this background, the Lokmat Infra Conclave gains even more importance. Ministers and senior officials from the administration are present here. Maharashtra has got quite efficient bureaucracy that is why the development of the state is on the fast track.
