Jain Minority Federation drive on govt schemes must reach grassroots level: Darda

Nagpur, Feb. 10: The national public awakening campaign launched by the All India Jain Minority Federation to disseminate information regarding socio-economic welfare schemes of Central and state governments  for the minority communities should reach grassroots level of the society as they are quite beneficial, said national president of Sakal Jain Samaj and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda.

Darda was speaking during the launch of the national public awakening campaign of All India Jain Minority Federation for Maharashtra in Nagpur.

Vijay Darda, national president of Jain Minority Federation Lalit Gandhi,  national general secretary  of the federation Sandeep Bhandari and Vinay Akulwar unveiled the logo of All India Jain Minority Federation’s public awakening campaign for Maharashtra on the occasion.

The All India Jain Minority Federation has been working all over the country for the last seven years to disseminate information about the various development schemes of the Central and state governments among the members of the Jain community.

The federation has more than 650 branches in different states of the country,  over 17,000 active workers and more than one lakh members to promote and implement these schemes among the community members.

Lalit Gandhi had convened a special meeting at Yavatmal House in the city for presentation of the annual work report and give information about the new projects for the new year.

A comprehensive report about the activities of the federation was presented to Vijay Darda, head of advisory board of the All India Jain Minority Federation.

The federation report stated that lakhs of Jain students from school to higher education level have availed the scholarship schemes of the governments and the community has been informed about the skill development training schemes for youth and women.

Gandhi also presented a detailed report on the work done in the field of loan schemes available for the youth to start new business, foreign education and other grants.

More work should be done by the Central government to increase participation of the Jain community members for restoration of ancient Jain temples as well as rewriting of ancient Jain texts under the ‘Hamari Dharohar’ project, he stressed.

At the same time, he said efforts are being made to reach out to the society for the construction of community buildings for social activities and setting up  new educational institutions to enhance educational facilities.

Lalit Gandhi also informed that efforts have been made to conduct the 2021 Census of the Jain community in a proper manner through a special public awareness campaign.

Darda spoke on various issues and suggested expanding the work on a large scale to reach out to all sections of the society in the years to come. He also stressed on the need to carry out the Census 2021 work in such a manner that it should cover every section of the society.

Darda also said that there is a need for the Central government to disseminate information about the newly-introduced economic reservation policy to the Jain community so as to enable them to take the benefit for their education and employment.

Prominent among those who participated in the discussion were national general secretary of the Federation Sandeep Bhandari, Ujwal Pagaria, Anil Parakh, Santosh Pendhari, Atul Kotecha, Nikhil Kusumgar, Naresh Patni, Dr. Richa Jain, Sunil Jain and Vinay Akulwar.
