There is little difference between Nagpur and Butibori now. Soon, Nagpur will be connected to Butibori by Metro too. The state government has plans to develop the second capital as industries, services and logistics hub. In this venture, Butibori and New Butibori will have an important role to play. As a result, Butibori will emerge as a suburb of Nagpur and the residents will feel as if they live in Nagpur. Maybe looking at these possibilities, the Lokmat developed Swatantrata Senani Shri Jawaharlal Darda Nagar ahead of time.

In this background, the families living here as a big ‘Lokmat Parivar’ will flourish and achieve an all-round development, said the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis here on Tuesday.

Such colonies are seen in Europe:

Dy CM Fadnavis

Congratulating Dr Vijay Darda for the magnificent concept of Swatantrata Senani Shri Jawaharlal Darda Nagar, Fadnavis said, “Dr Darda considers Lokmat as one big family. Therefore, this beautiful colony has been developed so that employees of Lokmat Media Group can stay together. Such beautiful and well-planned colonies can only be found in the towns in Europe. Since Dr Vijay Darda is an artist too, apart from being a journalist, his vision is reflected in the houses

built here.”

Gateway to devp, peace & friendship will open here: Dr Darda

In his address, Dr Vijay Darda said Swatantrata Senani Shri Jawaharlal Darda Nagar is not merely a township made up of cement and concrete, but it will bring people closer to each other. This will open the doors of happiness, peace, development and friendship, and the children of members of the Lokmat family will lay the foundation of their bright future. Everyone will live and prosper here together, he added. He said everyone must have a home. “I first heard these words from Babuji in 1956. Babuji had established the first of the housing societies at Gandhi Nagar and Nehru Nagar in Yavatmal in the rest of Maharashtra (except Mumbai). Jawaharlal Nehru had performed the bhoomipujan of these colonies while Indira Gandhi had inaugurated them,” informed Dr Vijay Darda. “I, too, thought that members of the Lokmat family should have homes where they can stay peacefully,” he added. Dr Darda said the credit of releasing this concept goes to my wife Jyotsna Darda and the development of Lokmat housing colony in Butibori was her idea. Former industries minister Narayan Rane extended his cooperation to this project as a result of which Swatantrata Senani Shri Jawaharlal Darda Nagar has come up on this land measuring over 13 acres, with a beautifully developed garden spread over an acre of land and a total of 115 houses in three categories. These houses look similar from outside and their colour schemes are also the same. A stage to organise events, shops for essentials and a community hall are proposed to be built soon, he added.
