Derogatory remark by MP Mahua Moitra in LS

Don’t prove false superiority by hurting someone’s feelings: Darda

The Sakal Jain Samaj has strongly condemned the derogatory remark made by Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in the Lok Sabha. In a meeting held here on Saturday, the  Samaj demanded an unconditional apology from the TMC MP. Members of the community said such a objectionable remark should not be allowed to be made from the highest forum of the country like Parliament.

National president of Sakal Jain Samaj and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda said the Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has made very objectionable and derogatory remark about the Jain community in the Lok Sabha.

“Her remark reflects her deep ignorance, which I strongly condemn. People’s representatives are expected to speak very responsibly in Parliament without hurting anyone’s sentiments. It is not proper to hurt the sentiments of any community with their statements to prove false superiority. If people’s representatives do such things, what can be expected from common people,” he said.

She must understand the Jain teachings, ideals and practice and tender an unconditional apology for hurting the community’s sentiments, Darda demanded.

“Though the Jain community is a minority, it believes in forgiveness, non-violence, vegetarianism and environment protection. We will not cross our limits under any circumstances. No one else can be allowed to do this either, even if he or she is a people’s representative,” he further said. Nitin Khara, Nikhil Kusumgar, Atul Kotecha, Anil Parakh, Naresh Patni, Manish Mehta, Dilip Ranka, Anuj Barjatya, architect Mahavir Jain, Ashwin Golchha and others were present in the meeting.

“Though the Jain community is a minority, it believes in forgiveness, non-violence, vegetarianism and environment. We will not cross our limits under any circumstances. No one else can be allowed to do this either, even if he or she is a people’s representative.”

Moitra should learn about ideals of Jainism: Sancheti

Former MP Ajay Sancheti said the Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra should meet a Jain saint and get information about the ethics of Jain community. “’Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’ is our basic principle. Moitra has no right to talk senselessly about any community. She should immediately apologise for her derogatory remark,” he demanded.
