 Media Coverage  |  04-07-2022

‘No hatred against anyone, our competition is with ideology, quality’

The present day glory of Lokmat was not achieved easily. Much hard work and persistence went into its making. Many have struggled for it. Differences of opinion while working are natural, but there are no differences of mind. Lokmat is following the path of love, equality and unity shown by Babuji, said the chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda.

The birth centenary year of veteran freedom fighter and founder editor of Lokmat Group Jawaharlal Darda alias Babuji began on Saturday. Vijay Darda was speaking at the function organised to mark the occasion at Darda Matoshree Sabhagruha here. The editor-in-chief of Lokmat Media Rajendra Darda, former minister Advocate Shivajirao Moghe, senior journalist and former editor of Lokmat Madhukar Bhave, president of Maharashtra Pradesh Mahila Congress Sandhyatai Sawalakhe, former MLA Laxmanrao Tayade, managing director and editorial director of Lokmat Media Devendra Darda, group editor Vijay Baviskar, editor of Lokmat Samachar Vikas Mishra, editor of Lokmat Times N K Nayak and others were present on the occasion.

Babuji was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts. Later, he came in contact with many great personalities. India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, first President Dr Rajendra Prasad and Indira Gandhi visited Yavatmal at the invitation of Babuji. He had close ties right from Subhas Chandra Bose to Mahatma Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi to Pandit Nehru, Pandit Nehru to Indira Gandhi, and Indira Gandhi to the Gandhi family.

Babuji always insisted on loving humanity. He used to say that if someone went beyond the barriers of caste or religion, they would find that all people are essentially the same.

“Learn to love humankind,” Babuji used to say. Today, Lokmat is following the path of love, equality and unity as per Babuji’s teachings. Babuji never compromised with ideology. He worked till the last moment to give justice to the downtrodden and suppressed sections of the society.

He also made a great contribution in the development of Maharashtra. That is why when the ministry was being formed, Sharad Pawar said he could not imagine a Cabinet without Babuji. Babuji was a true philosopher. Keeping his philosophy in mind, Devendra Darda, Rishi Darda and Karan Darda who represent the new generation of the Darda family, are taking the Lokmat Media Group forward.

Vijay Darda exuded confidence that Lokmat will remain at the forefront in Maharashtra in taking up people’s issues in the future as well. “We have no hatred against anyone. Our competition is with the ideology and quality,” he added.

The executive editor of the Nagpur edition of Lokmat Shrimant Mane conducted the proceedings while Kishor Darda, head of the Lokmat Yavatmal district office, proposed a vote of thanks.

Babuji was a superhero in true sense: Rajendra Darda

Babuji suffered imprisonment for around two years for taking part in the freedom movement. It was through the association of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru that Babuji was inspired to take part in the freedom struggle. After the country attained freedom, Babuji started constructive journalism. Inducted into the state Cabinet, Babuji handled important projects and responsibilities of various departments. He led a purposeful life and his contribution in the development of Maharashtra is substantial. Babuji was a superhero in true sense for us, observed Rajendra Darda.
