Bhikkhu Sanghasena presents coveted award to Darda

The prestigious Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Leh, Ladakh, conferred this year’s Mahakaruna Award on the chairman of the Editorial Board of Lokmat Media and former member of Rajya Sabha Vijay Darda.

Founder president of the MIMC Bhikkhu Sanghasena presented the award to Darda at Leh. This award is given in recognition of the work of individuals engaged in providing yeoman service to spread love and maintain social harmony in the society. The main objective behind giving this award is to curb hatred and promote the values of love and compassion in the society.

While presenting the coveted award to Vijay Darda, Bhikkhu Sanghasena lauded his contribution towards establishing communal amity and harmony in the society. Sanghasena showered praises on Darda, saying the latter had done a great job of bringing the spiritual and religious leaders of all the religions together on one platform during the Lokmat National Inter-Religious Conference organised to mark the golden jubilee of Lokmat Nagpur edition last year.

Sanghasena presented a certificate of recognition and an idol of Lord Gautama Buddha to Darda on the occasion. Editor-in-Chief of Lokmat Media Group Rajendra Darda, vice-president of MIMC and former MLA Tsering Samphel were prominently present on the occasion.

Sanghasena also felicitated Rajendra Darda with a certificate of honour and an idol of Lord Buddha. Several guests from Italy, Vietnam and the North-East region of India were also greeted by the president of MIMC.

 

Religious intolerance must be curbed: Vijay Darda

Responding to the felicitation, Vijay Darda said that the society is passing through a different crisis today as religious intolerance is on the rise. “If we have to deal with the crisis, efforts should be made to create harmony in the society by bringing all religions on one platform. I am doing my best. The Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre in Leh took note of my work. This award will motivate me to work harder,” he said. Darda also appreciated Bhikkhu Sanghasena for turning the rocky place in Leh into a ‘paradise’ on Earth and bringing smiles on the faces of the underprivileged. Darda also said that he is impressed by Sanghasena’s incredible work.

Working for humanity is true religion: Rajendra Darda

Speaking after his felicitation, Editor-in-Chief of Lokmat Media Group Rajendra Darda said giving water to the thirsty and food to the hungry is true religion. He praised Bhikkhu Sanghasena, saying he is practising the religion of humanity. Lokmat will always stand by and support the work of Sanghasena who is working for humanity. Rajendra Darda also said that he will be happy if the conference of all religions is held in Leh.

All-religious conference to be held in Leh

Vijay Darda inspected the paradise-like area developed by Bhikkhu Sanghasena and appreciated the work done by him in the field of education, medical education and for the handicapped. He suggested that next year an all-religion conference should be held in Leh. His suggestion was immediately accepted by Bhikkhu Sanghasena. At the end of the programme, Nidhi Muthane proposed a vote of thanks.

Leh in Yavatmal college

Many underprivileged students of Ladakh region study in Bhikkhu Sanghasena’s school, but there are some who cannot pursue higher education due to poverty. This was mentioned by Sanghasena in his speech. Taking note of it, Vijay Darda announced that five students will get free admission every year in the Jawaharlal Darda Institute of Engineering and Technology in Yavatmal. The announcement was greeted with thunderous applause by the students and foreign guests.
