First meeting of Jury Board held; doctors to be honoured for their outstanding and exemplary work in field of healthcare
The first meeting of the Jury Board for the 3rd edition of Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards was held at Lokmat Bhavan on Saturday. Modalities and criteria for the selection of the awardees were discussed and finalised during the meeting.
The chairman of editorial board of Lokmat Media Group and former member of Rajya Sabha Dr Vijay Darda, chairman of jury board senior neurologist Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram and secretary senior radiologist Dr Raju Khandelwal along with the members of Jury Board were present in the meeting.
The annual Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards are given to doctors for their outstanding work in the field of healthcare. This is the third edition of the awards.
The editor of Lokmat Times N K Nayak delivered the welcome address and introduced the senior members of the Lokmat Media Group.
Dr Vijay Darda and Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram addressed the meeting. Senior radiologist Dr Raju Khandelwal introduced the members of the Jury Board and briefed about the selection process of winners.
He said, “There will be two procedures to select the awardees. The first one is the selection of awards by the Jury Board and the second one is ‘Popular Choice Awards’.
The Jury Board will decide 12 awards. These are 2 Lifetime Achievement Awards (one male and one female), 5 Outstanding Contribution Awards (3 from Nagpur and 2 from outside of Nagpur), 1 Special Jury Award, 1 Lokmat Times International Award, 1 Social Service Award, 1 Research and Development Award and 1 Young Achiever Award.
Twenty two awardees will be selected under the ‘Popular Choice Awards’. Two awardees will be selected from each district of Vidarbha. The districts include Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Amravati, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Akola and Washim. A team specially constituted by the Lokmat Media Group will select these awardees.
Under the ‘Popular Choice Awards’, doctors from every branch of medicine and healthcare will be selected. The categories for ‘Popular Choice Awards’ include Hospital, Ayush, Dental/Cosmetology, Family Physician, Medicine and Allied, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics and Allied, Super Speciality (Medicine), Super Speciality (Surgery), Surgery and others. Along with this, those doing remarkable work in Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Therapy and Occupation Therapy will be awarded.
The director (operations) of Lokmat Media Group Ashok Jain, vice-president Nilesh Singh, editor of Lokmat Samachar Vikas Mishra, executive editor of Lokmat Shrimant Mane, senior general manager (circulation-east) of Lokmat Media Group Santosh Chipda, deputy general manager (advt-sales) Sachin Waykos, Trupti Darda and Rajesh Kohale were present in the meeting. The general manager (advt-North Maharashtra) Aasman Seth proposed a vote of thanks.
Honour for stalwarts in medical field
Addressing the meeting, Dr Vijay Darda said, “Medical profession is a very sacred and noble profession. It is deeply connected with human values. Individuals and organisations serving in this field contributed greatly to the country and society. That is why the Lokmat Media Group has taken this initiative to honour the stalwarts in the field of healthcare through Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards.” Dr Meshram said, “It is a great honour to be the chairman of the Jury Board of the prestigious Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare Awards. Doctors and people associated with healthcare will be honoured for their outstanding and exemplary work and contribution in the field of healthcare.”
